    • Unleashing Your Inner Grit & Resilience
      • “I can’t.” “I’m afraid to – what if I fail?” “I don’t think I’m good enough to do that…” Do any of these messages sound familiar? In her years as an executive coach and business owner, Stephanie Goetz has heard top CEO’s and executives utter words just like this, but how do they overcome these fears and anxieties to be so successful?  Stephanie will walk you through how to be resilient in your professional and personal life, how to understand your personal barriers to taking good risks, how to thrive through the tough times, and how to create greatness out of despair to be a more resilient leader.

      • Whether you are at work or at home, if someone was to score your customer service they should be able to select “excellent” every time. During this session we are going to touch deeper on why it’s important to have customer service throughout every aspect of your life and how you can help others better their customer service.“Make every interaction count, even the small ones. They are all relevant.” -Shep Hyken

    • Details Do Matter...Sometimes, They're Everything
      • Handling details = the key to seamlessly managing projects and showcasing your proficiency. How does one determine teetering on the line of perfectionism versus effective management practices where i’s are dotted and t’s are crossed without time waste? Performing in a manner that’s absolutely your “A” game as opposed to an effort that is “good enough” will help ensure that as a professional you will not need to spend on advertising. YOU and YOUR product are your advertisement and word of mouth is a powerful tool. Actively managing your digital presence is crucial for career success.
        If forced to consider it, we can all generate a list of instances where details are critical to end success. Misunderstanding east for west will only make you late. Misunderstanding if you were to operate on the left or right knee isn’t fatal but will result in loss of compensation and unnecessary downtime for the patient. Jumping out of a plane without your parachute properly prepared for release likely carries a fatal consequence. To lighten up this list, we’ve all seen the Snickers commercial where the unfortunate actor dons a “No Regerts” tattoo.
        Join for a lively and fun discussion on how to effectively manage details regarding your career and digital presence whether you are an entrepreneur, aspiring political leader, student or experienced professional. Lynn will review real examples of details that can be effectively managed in a variety of work spaces, so to speak, that by paying proper attention to will increase opportunities available to you in the forms of leadership roles, increased revenue and/or salary, volunteer and/or board seats, and career advancement.

    • Financial Strategies for Women
      • Many women will face life-changing financial decisions. Understand your options related to setting goals, Social Security, protection, estate and retirement strategies, and how to stay informed.

  • Heidi Grondahl
    • Stress on the Body & Ways to Manage IT!
      • Stress is any change in the environment that requires your body to react and adjust in response. The body reacts to these changes with physical, mental, and emotional responses. Stress is a normal part of life. Many events that happen to you and around you -- and many things that you do yourself -- put stress on your body. You can experience good or bad forms of stress from your environment, your body, and your thoughts. This session will be discussing how stress effects your body and what tools you can to do combat or alleviate stress.

    • How Your Executive Presence Affects Your Influence 
      • First impressions last. So do the second, third, and hundredth. They also have a larger impact than you think on how people perceive, trust or choose to follow you. So what does your presence and “how you show up” say about you? Is it what you authentically are, or is it far from who you see yourself as? Executive speaker coach and business owner Stephanie Goetz will teach participants the nuances of individual presence, how it impacts our communication and influence, how to find your authentic “executive presence”, and how to effectively use body language to impact how people view you – making you a more revered, respected and trusted leader
2pm – 2:45pm – Session V
  • Tanya Vachal
    • Preparing for Important Discussions
      • This session teaches leaders how to plan for successful interactions with team members. Attendees will be introduced to value of meeting the personal and practical needs in daily interactions. They will receive applied skills practice by completing a Discussion Planner to help them prepare for a vital discussion that they need to hold soon with one or more team members. The Discussion Planner is a practical tool taken from DDI Interaction Management® Leadership Program courses. This session gives attendees an opportunity to experience a piece of the DDI IM® Communicating for Leadership Success foundation course.
3pm – 3:45pm – Session VI
  • Kim Weismann
    • Friend or Foe? Building Positive Working Relationships with Other Women
      • Women have a need to work together to build each other up rather than tear each other down, especially in the workforce. Women can be competitive with one another and it can create animosity in the workplace and personal lives. Growing one’s confidence helps women be able to build up others. Fostering relationships with other women allows for a more positive work environment. This session will help you build, maintain, and foster relationships with other women.

Presenters

Stephanie Goetz is an award-winning news anchor, executive speaker coach, philanthropist, mental health advocate, accomplished speaker, and professional trainer. This Emmy-nominated broadcaster anchored and reported at NBC, CBS and ABC affiliates for nearly 10 years. She’s covered everything from historic floods, shootings and breaking news, to professional sports and sideline reporting. This former broadcaster understands what it takes to have focused leadership and resilience in fast-paced, challenging environments. She’s taken that knowledge and expertise and coaches executives at Fortune 500 companies, women’s groups, law enforcement agencies, financial institutions, top architecture firms, actors and all walks of life to sharpen their messages, handle the unexpected, and thrive in good and bad days. With her stories and experience, Stephanie will inspire, educate, and give you the practical resources for you to thrive and teach you how to identify those around you who may be struggling and how to support them in their journey.

Karissa Kjos is passionate about events, Hallmarck, and the Williston community. After graduating Minnesota State University Moorhead with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Studies and Leadership, she jumped into the event world working in the Twin Cities for Amy Zaroff Events + Design. After a year she received the opportunity to return home working as Executive Director for the Williston Downtowners Association and is currently the Conference Services and Student Life Coordinator at Williston State College.
 
Calling Williston home she can be seen throughout the community at events, working with her Gather LLC clients and throwing punches in Pink Gloves Boxing. Karissa is also apart of Williston Korner Lions, 1 Million Cups, P.E.O., and First Lutheran Church Council.
 

Kim Weismann has been teaching Communication courses at Williston State College since 2010. She has been teaching in higher education since 2006. She teaches a variety of courses such as Fundamentals of Public Speaking, Intercultural Communication, Interpersonal Communication, Organizational Communication, and Oral Interpretation. She is the current Arts and Human Science Department Chair at WSC. Weismann has held numerous leadership roles at WSC such as Faculty Senate President, Diversity Club Advisor, Diversity Committee Chair, WSC NDUS Diversity Council Representative, and others. She is also held leadership roles in the Communication, Speech, and Theatre Association of North Dakota, Central States Communication Association, and the National Communication Association.
 
She grew up on a farm south east of Dickinson, ND. She earned an Associate of Arts and a Bachelors degree in Communication from Dickinson State University. She received her Masters Degree in Speech Communication from North Dakota State University. She is currently finishing her doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of South Dakota.
 
 

Tanya Vachal is the Business Relations and Sales Manager for TrainND-Northwest, a division of Williston State College that focuses short-term workforce training needs.  She is a DDI-Certified Facilitator in Interaction Management® Leadership Development courses.  In 2010, Tanya was selected by Prairie Business magazine to receive the "40 Under 40" award.  Tanya's professional work experience encompasses building customer relations, connecting talent with career opportunities, and guiding individuals in finding financial freedom.  Tanya is native to Williston, attended Williston State College for her general studies, and graduated from University of North Dakota with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She is currently attending University of Mary for a MS in Business, HR Concentration.
 
 

After spending the first 12 years of her career in non-profit development and fundraising, Kristin was presented with an opportunity last year to experience a career change that would take her to a new form of serving people. Her “second career” as a Financial Representative has deepened her love and passion for helping others, while taking on a new form—helping people navigate through their personal financial journeys. Kristin has joined a team of Thrivent Financial representatives with the organization’s Northland Regional Financial Office in Williston, ND.  She offers comprehensive financial strategies, personal customer service and a wide range of financial products.

Heidi Grondahl, a Williston native, is a nurse practitioner at CHI St. Alexius Health Williston specializing in Women’s Health. As a women’s health provider, she treats patients for a wide range of needs during all stages of life. Heidi enjoys working with people and helping them obtain and maintain their good health.
 

Lynn Welker Fevold is originally from Kilgore, NE, and now resides in Denver, CO.  She has a deep appreciation for agricultural roots, having grown up on her family’s ranch and now running her own cattle as well. In 2000 she graduated from Cody-Kilgore High School as valedictorian of her class. Then in 2003 Lynn had the opportunity to serve as Miss Rodeo Nebraska promoting the sport of rodeo and agricultural way of life wrapping up the year by competing for the title of Miss Rodeo America. This particular experience, prior years of pageant preparation and competition, and public speaking events from childhood through early adulthood (4-H, FFA, and college) helped construct and shape a strong communications foundation from which Lynn would build her public relations business down the road.
 
In 2006, she graduated from the University of Wyoming with Honors earning a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Physical Anthropology. After graduation Lynn was able to gain valuable experience in both the public and private sector providing her with insight, background, and understanding in community outreach, stakeholder management, regulatory policy, governmental processes, and and business operations. To gain additional education from a development perspective, Lynn completed a certificate program at MIT on Complex Business Strategy. By good fortune, Lynn was accepted to and graduated from the Leadership Wyoming Program in 2014. Thank you to amazing mentors and encouragement from, now, lifetime friends, WelkerPR, Inc. was borne. Lynn had always aspired to be an entrepreneur and now with her husband, Bryan, they operate WelkerPR, Inc., dba Welker & Fevold PR, providing public relations, marketing, fundraising, government affairs, business strategy and graphic design services.
 
Lynn serves on the North Dakota Petroleum Council’s (NDPC) Communications Committee; the NDPC’s Community Outreach Committee; the Williston Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Committee; the Growing Home Sustainable Funding Committee; formerly served as a board member for the Watford City Area Chamber of Commerce; and is a member of the Miss Rodeo Nebraska Association. In her free time, Lynn’s favorite gig is being “Auntie Lynn”. She loves to spend time with family, hunt, trap, fish, hike, workout, travel, snowboard, judge pageants, and work on her fiction novel that she hopes to complete in the next two years.
